{"id":165,"date":"2023-11-05T15:51:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-05T14:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anoknits.com\/?p=165"},"modified":"2023-11-05T16:13:26","modified_gmt":"2023-11-05T15:13:26","slug":"make-the-most-of-it-socks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anoknits.com\/index.php\/2023\/11\/05\/make-the-most-of-it-socks\/","title":{"rendered":"Make the most of it Socks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The idea was to test if one 100g skein of sock yarn is enough to knit myself just-below-the-knee socks with cuff and toe in a contrasting yarn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer is yes! \ud83d\ude00<br>I finished with about 3 grams left ^^<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yarn<\/strong><br>Hedgehog Fibres Sock yarn &#8211; Potluck<br>Tre Liz Ares &#8211; Ice Sky<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>First thing to do<\/strong> is weight the main skein and separate it in two balls of equal weight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gauge<\/strong><br>36 sts and 42 rows for 10cm x 10cm (unwashed)<br>2.5 mm needles<br>Size is EUR 38<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Toe<\/strong><br>Co. 32 sts with contrasting colour.<br>German short-row toe:<br>WS Purl 31 sts, turn<br>RS GSR, knit to end of row, turn<br>WS GRS, purl to last st before wrap, turn<br>RS GRS, knit to last st before wrap, turn<br>Repeat last two rows until 8 unwrapped sts left &#8211; 12 wrapped sts each side.<br>WS Slip 1, purl to wrapped sts, purl it making sure to take both strands, turn<br>RS Slip 1, knit to wrapped sts, knit it making sure to take both strands, turn<br>Repeat until all wrapped sts are worked. <br>Cut yarn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Feet<\/strong><br>With main colour, pick up 32 sts from cast on and start working in the round.<br>Knit 44 rows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gusset and heel<\/strong><br>I used <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20080517042618\/http:\/\/wendyknits.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/toe-upsockswithadifference.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20080517042618\/http:\/\/wendyknits.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/toe-upsockswithadifference.pdf\">Toe-up Socks With a Difference<\/a> (link to pdf) for gusset and heel, with german short rows and M1L\/M1R instead of wraps and KFB. <br>The pattern is from Wendy D. Johnson (@wendy_knits on Instagram). <br>I think it worked very well ! It&#8217;s fine but it could be even better^^<br>In this case I&#8217;ll need more yarn and a 100g skein probably won&#8217;t be enough.
