Ever thought it would be less boring if it was not exactly the same?
I’ve got you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s knit a pair of discreetly different socks, where each sock is one of a kind !<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Materials<\/strong>
2,5 mm circular needle or DPNs
Typical 4 ply sock yarn (400m for 100g) in three colours: 45g of MC and 20g of each CC1 and CC2 (yay! let’s use some minis !) for the sock described below (size EU 38\/39).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used
MC Martin’s Lab Tough Sock in colour Silver Lining (grey)
CC1 Treliz Ares in colour Fight Club (pink)
CC2 Hedgehog Fibres Sock Yarn in colour Potluck (variegated)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gauge<\/strong>
32 sts\/20 rounds for 10 cm on 2,5 needles<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuff<\/strong>
Co. 72 sts (big calves here ^^, decreases will happen later on) with MC or 64 sts if it suits you better.
Join for knitting in the round, making sure you don’t twist your stitches. Mark the beginning of the round as you see fit.
[k2,p2] for 20 rounds.
Knit one last round with MC, decreasing to 64 sts if you started with 72 sts: [k2tog, k7] 8 times. Otherwise just knit a round with MC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alternative cast-on for Crazy Sock Lady fans ^^
Add a splash of colour to the cuff by using CC1 or CC2 for the cast on, and knit 2 rounds of [k2,p2] ribbing then switch to MC, starting with a knit round to avoid the CC purled stitches colour to mess with MC, then [k2,p2] for 17 rounds.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leg<\/strong>
Stripes! \ud83d\ude00
The sequence is the following:
3 rounds CC1 (pink)
3 rounds MC (grey)
3 rounds CC2 (Potluck)
3 rounds MC (grey)
Repeat sequence for 60 rounds\/20 stripes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not cut yarn when switching colours; carry unused strands, twisting them now and then to keep things neat<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Heel<\/strong>
The heel is worked on 32 sts, back and forth.
Garter heel flap: with the next colour in the stripe sequence (CC1), knit 32 sts, turn, knit 32 sts again.
Do the same with MC, then CC2 then MC again, knitting one ridge with each colour using the same stripe sequence as the leg.
Repeat until you have 16 ridges\/32 rows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The heel flap might seem shorter than your usual heel flat: no worries, it is fine, garter stitch is stretchy \ud83d\ude42<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heel turn: with next colour (CC1) or MC if you want to save CCs (minis) yarn, knit 21 sts, k2tog, turn.
Slip 1 st wyif, knit 10 sts, k2tog, turn.
Slip 1 st wyif, knit to 1 st before gap, k2tog, turn.
Repeat last row until no side stitches are left, ending with a WS row.
You should now have 12 sts left on your heel needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moving the start of the round: knit 6 sts with CC1, place marker for new beginning of round, carrying MC and CC2 with you, ready to be picked for the next colour changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gusset: knit 6 sts, pick up and knit 16 sts on the side of the heel flap.
If you fear having a gap, pick up and twist an additional st between heel and instep.
Knit 32 sts (instep)
If needed, pick up and twist an additional st between heel and instep.
Pick up and knit 16 sts on the side of the heel flap.
We’re back to working in the round from now on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If looking at the instep, this should be the first row of CC1.
Continue stripe sequence as established, decreasing sole stitches as follow, every other round, until 32 sts remain on the sole:
ssk, knit until 2 last sts of sole, k2tog<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foot<\/strong>
Knit 17 stripes\/51 rounds in total, gusset included, ending with CC1.
Knit 1 round with MC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Star toe<\/strong>
Toe is knitted with MC.
Knit the chart below. It repeats 4 times across the sock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cut yarn, leaving enough to secure the 8 remaining stitches.
